Assistant Director of Content Marketing

Essential Functions:

  • Exhibit strong understanding and ability to integrate and execute best practices in content marketing, donor/consumer acquisition, as well as new and emerging marketing techniques.
  • Create and manage content for annual giving appeals and manage key institutional programs, including giving days.
  • Oversee ongoing strategic initiatives for annual giving, including utilizing emerging and digital technologies, expanding creative stewardship for annual donors, building the University’s crowdfunding program, optimizing cultivation strategies for annual donors, and evaluating new technologies, platforms, and services.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Manage programs and measure return on investment.
  • Compose and/or edit correspondence.
  • Maintain and update website and social media pages to ensure content is fresh.
  • Develop content for emails, website, and social media communications.
  • Compose appropriate correspondence for inquiries.
  • Assist in the creation of white papers and resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Comfortable working in a complex, multi-divisional, results-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated success in project management when overseeing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to establish priorities, set objectives, achieve goals and manage to project and departmental budgets.
  • Experience in overseeing digital and print marketing; including writing, proofing and graphic design.
  • Ability to thrive in high-energy environments that often have short deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Knowledge of direct marketing best practice across non-profit sectors.
  • Understanding of and experience with gamification in marketing strategy.
  • Success in utilizing search engine optimization (SEO) in consumer or donor acquisition.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive consensus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation capabilities.
  • Strong desire to succeed and excellent work ethic.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in content, consumer marketing, or advertising required.
