Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories seeks an experienced Test Engineer to join our team. This Lead level Test Engineer will lead an experienced, dedicated team of test engineers and technicians in developing innovative new test systems for SEL’s largest product line! Our test team utilizes Agile processes to develop modern, highly efficient test scripts using unique SEL-proprietary coding software. We work in an office environment immediately adjacent to product factory operations to ensure daily interface with our test systems operators, helping ensure products are tested and shipped on time to our customers in support of the global power grid. In addition to software, our test engineers design new test station hardware optimized to our products and production team.
We are a nimble, process-improvement focused team, and the Lead Test Engineer will be empowered to identify and develop unique projects to improve test efficiency and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead engineers and technicians in test development processes. Use project management tools to monitor the status and progress of tests and other deliverables.
2. Mentor engineers and technicians. Monitor performance of team members and actively participate in evaluations.
3. Own multiple projects of varying complexity. Deliver highest quality work on schedule. Establish project development plans and provide timely metrics on project status.
4. Review and approve test plans, station designs, and validation documentation. Insure clear and efficient communications exist between test development team and customers.
5. Design, develop, and maintain test strategies for new and existing products that meet corporate objectives.
6. Evaluate new test technologies and methods.
7. Determine Design for Test (DFT) specifications and coordinate with engineering staff on new product design.
8. Gather and analyze test data to improve test coverage, process efficiencies, and perform software verification.
9. Model SEL Values.
10. Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
11. Understand, create, simplify processes.
12. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Five years experience designing and developing production tests
Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications
3 years experience in project management
2 years prior supervisory or team leadership experience
Knowledge of SEL products
