Director/Senior Director-Client Services

Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and execution, and drive client service efforts, including leading business development activities and managing relationships with clients (existing and potential).

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Colloborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and execution, including but not limited to evaluation of growth opportunities and other corporate initiatives.
  • Lead sales / business development efforts by collborating with clients and/or potential clients to identify opportunities and project needs (including performing issues analyses to define problems and/or challenges to be addresed) and, with cross-functional colleagues, to develop workplans to address such opportunities and needs, with an annual sales target based on experience and compensation.
  • Provide input into client / partner contractual agreements.
  • Author proposals, including determination of pricing and/or deal structure, for clients and/or partners, including vendors.
  • Be responsible for client deliverables, including accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
  • Manage client and potential client relationships.
  • Lead project management meetings.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines and colloborate with cross-functional colleagues to make sure client deliverables are completed successfully as described in proposals.
  • Lead sales and marketing inititiatives for contract development and manufacturing, including not limited to exhibiting at industry conferences and contributing to PGC marketing collaterol (e.g., website).
  • Coordinate and manage client, potential client, partner, and visitor meetings and tours.
  • Interact efficiently with clients & partners and meet client and partner needs and expectations.
  • Organize, manage, coordinate, and track multiple projects.
  • Coordinate and manage events involving PGC.
  • Participate in Purdue University, School of Pharmacy, and community events.
  • Interact with clients and partners, including representatives of Purdue University and its affiliates.
  • Follow all applicable State and Federal laws regarding the operation of a cGMP Facility.
  • Train, plan, and assign work to employee(s).
  • Collaborate and manage, if needed, internal projects, including but not limited to identifying and managing partners, vendors, and suppliers.


  • Demonstrated superior computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in:  one-on-one settings; small groups; and more formal settings.
  • Superior attention to details.
  • Ability to use good judgment, diplomacy, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion on various operational matters and customer service.
  • Ability to interact comfortably and effectively with clients, supervisor, senior business leaders, service providers, and business partners (e.g., Purdue University / Purdue Research Foundation staff).
  • Abilitiy to develop and mentor staff members.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle successfully multiple projects / engagements.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of clients / partners.


  • B.S./B.A. in Management, Business, Science, or Pharmacy required.
  • M.B.A / M.S. / Ph.D. preferred.
  • Prior experience with business development and account management for a pharmacetucial related organization.
  • Prior experience with managing and mentoring staff.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical processes (e.g., development and manufacturing) and terminology.


  • Favorable security (DEA/FBI/criminal) check and negative controlled substance test
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this position
  • Ability to travel (50%)
