Security Analyst/Admin

Position Summary:

The Security Analyst / Admin is responsible for focusing on information security for the enterprise. Under general direction this position performs a varying degree of technical analysis and coordination with Audit and IT to secure Credit Union systems and data. Monitor and develop programs and systems to maintain a secure environment that does not inhibit staff from performing their duties. Triage alerts and tune rule sets and systems to maximize visibility into member and staff activities that can cause harm or security issues.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Manage daily tasks assigned by Information Security Officer (ISO).
  • Perform daily system monitoring for the various security products such as Carbon Black Defense and Protection, Security Center, etc.
  • Triage alerts and reports of incidents. Respond to Phish reports, researching and escalating as needed. Tune alerts for security events as required for audit and industry best practices.
  • Work with the ISO in reporting incidents and sharing Indicators or Compromise with the FS-ISAC and other communities as deemed necessary.
  • Seek out new software/hardware technology that will secure and benefit the Credit Union.
  • Perform primary incident response, work with the ISO and Incident Response Team (IRT) members on incidents. Practice responding to incidents. Use industry tools to isolate systems, secure data, and image systems and memory for forensics.
  • Maintain and develop systems to test possible malware such as Symantec Content Analysis System.
  • Work with IRT and ISO developing Table Top exercises that involve Credit Union business units.
  • Develop scripts using languages such as Powershell to find and remediate security and permission issues and to facilitate audits.
  • Develop polices for Carbon Black and other systems to secure systems and generate reports for review.
  • Perform Vulnerability Scans, categorize risks and work with the ISO and Infrastructure team to remediate risks.
  • Log Management. Work with various teams to centralize logging, develop alerts and monitor systems and firewalls for unusual activity.
  • Perform audits of systems, coordinate audit remediate and compliance working the ISO, IT, and Audit as required.
  • Maintain, deploy, and troubleshoot web filtering products using on premise and cloud solutions.
  • Review and maintain Cloud and SaaS security. Work with vendors to secure Credit Union data wherever it is maintained. Centralize logging to Credit Union whenever possible. Review access logs when available.


Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of systems and networking desired.
  • Knowledge of security systems such as Symantec Bluecoat products and Carbon Black.
  • Knowledge of Elastic Stack are a plus.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Experience training end-users and writing skills are a plus.
  • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This job operates in a clerical office setting.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets
  • This position requires sitting, bending, stooping or standing as necessary
