Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for a variety of accounting tasks including daily settlement, cash management, Branch/ATM/ITM Cash ordering and reconciliation, assisting with Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and G/L Reconciliations.  Timely completion of daily balancing tasks are required. May also assist during month-end close.

*Employees are expected to adhere to all rules and regulations applicable to this position including but not limited to all policies and procedures pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.


  • Settlement Responsibilities              
    • Federal Reserve
      • Input wire, ACH and cash letter entries to reconcile Fed account to G/L balance.  Match off cash letters to ensure all batches received credit.            
    • Visa Settlement
      • Access reports in Springboard to create entries and reconcile G/Ls.  Research offages and notify Accounting Ops, Loan Services or TMG
    • Network Settlement
      • Access reports in Springboard and Nautilus to create entries and reconcile G/Ls.  Research offages and notify Accounting Ops
  • Cash Management             
    • Records and updates spreadsheets with various daily cash related activities        
      • Pull daily statements and save from Federal Reserve and FHLB accounts and update spreadsheets. 
      • Make investment payment entries as needed
      • Enter ACH daily activity from Fed Reserve emails
    • Submit FR2900
      • Make daily NSF accrual entry
      • Verify Reservelink reports and G/L balance
      • Submit FR2900 weekly to Federal Reserve
  • ATM and Branch Cash
    • ATM and Branch cash ordering and management                                                                       
      • Retrieve orders from branches (via Apps), consolidate and send to Security Inc.
      • Monitor ATM cash levels and adjust standing orders with Security Inc. as needed.
      • Place weekly cash orders with Federal Reserve
      • Reconcile ATM/ITM/Branch vault ledgers to Security Inc. ledger including cash in transit (VR)
  • Communicate with Security Inc. as needed
  • ATM and ITM ticket entry and reconciliation to Security Inc.
    • Update ATM/ITM activity (tickets) in spreadsheet after replenishment
    • Make journal entries for usage and replenishment activity
    • Reconcile ATM/ITM/Branch ledgers to Security Inc.
    • Balance ATM network G/L
  •  Accounts Payable
    • Process all vendor, employee and corporate card reimbursements        
      • Back-up and assist for Accounts Payable
  • G/L Reconcilement
    • Perform monthly reconciliations of select balance sheet G/L accounts


  • Associate Degree in Accounting, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of similar experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience with Accounts Payable preferred
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • Detail-oriented and ability to problem solve independently
  • Competent computer skills
  • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts

  • This job operates in a clerical office setting.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets
  • This position requires sitting, bending, stooping or standing as necessary
