ABOUT THE ROLE…
This is a great opportunity for a highly-motivated and dedicated Research Scientist to join our Plant Characterization Team to support Inari’s product development pipeline. You will engage as a research scientist and technical expert to support plant characterization and product development in a production scale and high-throughput team. AS A SCIENTIST, PLANT MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION AND GENE EDITING, YOU WILL…
- Be part of a cross-functional team to lead the molecular characterization of transgenic events and provide the data package to help drive decision-making of event advancement
- Develop and implement state-of-the-art molecular analytical technology to enhance in-depth and high-throughput plant characterization of the product development pipeline
- Drive the quality assurance of the gene-editing characterization and deliver the comprehensive data package
- Serves as a technical expert in the area of plant genetics, gene editing, and molecular analyses to accelerate product development
- Work with other scientists and research associates to plan and execute production experiments, conduct analyses, record data and report results to the project development team
- Interpret data; maintain an accurate, comprehensive, and current laboratory record
- Communicate results in written technical reports and oral presentations
YOU BRING...
- A Ph.D. with a minimum of 3+ of experience or Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience,working in a research and development environment, in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Plant Physiology, Crop Science, Plant Genetics, Agronomy, Molecular Biology)
- Extensive hands-on experience in gene editing, trait development., and transgenic event characterization in the agriculture biotechnology industry
- In-depth technical knowledge in plant genetics, gene editing, and Ag biotechnology
- Strong technical expertise with a wide range of molecular analytical technologies such as targeted amplicon resequencing, other NGS, ddPCR, and qPCR-based analysis. Can oversee all aspects of assay development from design to implementation
- Demonstrated project management skills.and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Team leadership experience in mentoring, and people development
- Curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and have a meaningful impact
- Creative and strategic thinking, willingness to be bold and take risks
- A collaborative approach, open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback across multiple site locations
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS…
- Experience working in a production-scale environment and automated high-throughput workflows using NGS, qPCR, ddPCR, and other technologies to screen biological materials
- Working knowledge in R or bioinformatics
- Working knowledge with statistical programming packages
