ABOUT THE ROLE…


We are looking for dynamic and self-motivated Research Associates to join our
fast-growing and collaborative teams to work, in particular, on plant
transformation and tissue culture in the delivery teams. These positions are
hands-on lab-based roles focused on the evaluation, optimization and scale-up of
novel transformation technologies. The right candidates will be well-organized,
creative problem solvers and experts in the basic techniques of plant tissue
culture eager and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, goal driven, start-up
company environment


AS A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, PLANT TRANSFORMATION
OPTIMIZATION YOU WILL....

  • Execute experiments to rigorously test novel transformation technologies
    to expand our current transformation capabilities in monocot and dicot
    crops and advance our genome editing pipeline. Quickly generate high
    quality data to inform business decisions.
  • Coordinate with the production transformation team to facilitate
    optimization and scale-up of promising new technologies
  • Collaborate with other production delivery team to develop effective
    solutions and share key learnings in order to maintain alignment with the
    overall business needs
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of your work, project data and
    other information as needed in Inari designated systems
  • Present research outcomes to peers and management during team
    meetings to inform on progress
  • Assist the production transformation teams as needed (maintain in vitro
    plant cultures, media prep, sampling, etc.)

YOU BRING…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Plant Biology or related subject with 3+
    years laboratory experience
  • Experience with monocot and/or dicot plant tissue culture and genetic
    transformation technologies
  • Experience with aseptic technique in laminar flow and bio-containment
    hoods
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent planning, organization, execution and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team
    member
  • Show initiative, good judgment and willingness to take on additional tasks/
    and responsibilities as needed to achieve goals and deliverables
  • Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to challenge status quo in a constructive
    manner
  • Ability to work creatively and efficiently in a fast-paced, start-up company
    environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Energy, self-motivation, ownership and focused execution

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS...
  • Experience with plant tissue culture in an industry environment
  • Experience with bacterial cell culture
  • Experience with basic molecular biology
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Mail, Docs, Slides, Sheets and Drive) and Cloud-based electronic notebook software like Benchling
  • Experience with basic Lab Information Systems (LIMS) software
  • Experience with light and fluorescent microscopy
