Business Development Professional

Home Based – Preferred locations either in California (Bay area or San Diego Area) or Cambridge, MA area.

This Business Development role will work within a defined territory with pharmaceutical, biotech, and clinical research organizations to expand business with existing clients and establish business relationships with new clients.  The Business Development Professional will have a proven track record and industry contacts which will facilitate the generation of new business for our BioAnalytical Services Division.           

How you will make an impact

  • You will secure and retain business through professional, consultative, and proactive sales activities.  Qualifying and developing  leads identified through both company-led marketing efforts and self-initiated activities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of clients’ organizational structures and build relationships throughout scientific and executive levels.
  • Uncover client needs and become the focal point for providing BASi’s collective solutions and expertise to clients.
  • Make recommendations internally for new products and services to solve unmet needs.
  • Work with operations and management teams to prepare proposals, and supportive documentation to facilitate contract awards and ongoing revenue.
  • Coordinate internal project teams to support client requests and anticipated needs.
  • Lead and participate in customer support efforts to build strong customer loyalty.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date planning and reporting of results to effectively communicate successful territory and account management on a timely basis using
  • Provide marketing data, competitive intelligence and other such information to assist BASi’s continual improvement efforts.
  • Periodically ride with scientific team and management to promote BASi’s capabilities.
  • Join and attend local networking groups as a BASi representative.
  • 30-40% travel depending on geographic location.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry or related discipline (advanced science, technical or business degree desired) with valid driver’s license.
  • Proven business development experience in promoting bioanalytical services.
  • Record of accomplishment of annual sales goals.
  • Equivalent combination of related education and required work experience will be considered.
  • Ability to work independently or in team setting; ability to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Strong presentation and negotiating skills  strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to project and maintain a professional and positive attitude.
  • A desire for excellence in performance and driving accountability.
  • Thorough knowledge of the drug development process including Bioanalytical, Clinical, GLP/GCP/GMP, QA/QC, SOP’s.
  • Computer proficiency and good analytical skills.
  • Integrity, the ability to focus on doing the right thing for the team and the company, conducting business honestly and in compliance with legal requirements, earns trust and respect of others.
